Hudson turns a “Messy” 4!

Hudson turned 4 in early September.  Wow, it is hard to believe how fast time flies!  Hudson gets very involved in the planning of his parties.  If you remember, last year we had a “Green” party, per his request.  Shortly after the “Green” party was over, he started talking about his “4” year old party.  He wanted a “Messy” party.  So, for the past year I have been thinking of ideas and gearing myself to let a bunch of 4 year olds get absolutely messy. 

The plan was to have several “stations” of activities.

Mud Pie Station, Body Paint Station, Make your own Slime Station.  Then the grand finale would be to divide the kids up and have a messy war complete with confetti eggs, silly string, and water balloons.  It was a success and the best part was watching the kids just run around laughing.  They loved getting messy and not getting into trouble.  The smiles were priceless.  Take a look for yourself.

Mud Pies:

The kids really did not make actual mud pies.  They decided to make the pies on each other.  They then decided to cover the side of the white garage in mud.  Amazingly the next morning, it had dried and was fairly easy to clean up.

Slime Station:

The slime station was a big hit.  In case you did not know, there are multiple slime recipes online.

Of course, the three musketeers thought it would be funny to put the slime in their hair.

The only casualties of the party were the Davidson boy’s hair.  While the station was unmanned, Connor took the red food coloring and squirted in his and his brother’s white hair!  I took a few days to fade.

A big thanks to my aunt Paula for taking over the Slime station.  Also for coming early and helping mom and I set up.  We could not have done it without her!

Body Paint Station: 

The body paint station was a hit also.  I actually found colored body soap, so it was a clean alternative.

Messy War:

 

 

We had a blue team and a yellow team.  It is hard to say who won, but everyone had fun and that is all that matters.  Even RaRa and some of the adults participated!

At the last minute, Hudson requested a pinata for the party.  The kids enjoyed breaking the pinata as much as gathering the candy.  And if there was not enough sugar to go around, we ended the party with some homemade dirt cake.  I believe Nelson had several helpings for himself.

Such a fun day and great memories.  Hudson has informed me that he will be having a Batman/Superhero party next year when he turns five.  Stay tuned!
